Oregon’s one and only: Boulder Creek Ranch is the only place in Oregon where you can rent a sheep wagon for the night. This is a unique chance to get a good night’s sleep and a taste of Oregon history.
Rustic comfort: The sheep wagon is a cabin on wheels, an 1800s-style RV, if you will. The sheep wagon includes a full-size bed with a view of the woods and the stars from your pillow. The wagon provides bench seating, a shepherd’s table, and storage, all finely crafted in wood. The canvas roof lets in the peaceful burble of Big Boulder Creek and the songs of an array of wild birds.
A night with history: The wagon is built on a historic frame, reconstructed from authentic plans provided by the Oregon Historical Society. Such wagons were common in Eastern Oregon and across the West, used by Basque sheepherders who single-handedly managed herds of 1,500 sheep or so. They used their horse to move the wagon from pasture to pasture.
Kids or couples: The sheep wagon is ideal for couples, but it’s also a great place for your kids to spend the night. They get an unforgettable brush with history while mom and dad get a little quiet time to themselves in the cabin.
Combination rental: Since the sheep wagon has no power or water, it is rented in conjunction with the cabin. That’s where you’ll find the modern features of a full bath, kitchen, and a separate bedroom.
